미터기보호통 보온재 부상현상 (Floating problems with existing products)
일반적으로 미터기 보호통 내부에 보온재로 사용되는 스티로폼은 재질 특성상 물이 유입될 시 보호통 밖으로 떠오르게 됩니다. 스티로폼 보온재는 옷가지나 이불등의 임시 방편에 비해서는 물에 젖은 후 얼어붙거나 내부에서 오염되는 문제가 발생하지 않아 월등하지만, 우기에 다량의 빗물이 유입될 시 부력현상으로 인해 오히려 커버와 함께 하천으로 떠내려 가 버리는 치명적인 문제점이 발생하였습니다.
The styrofoam used as a thermal insulation material inside a water meter box will float out of the box when water enters due to its material properties. Styrofoam is an outstanding insulator compared to temporary alternatives such as clothing or blankets that freeze or become damaged after being soaked. however, if a lot of rainwater enters the product during the rainy season, the problem is fatal as the Styrofoam will float and drift into the river with the cover due to buoyancy .

In order to solve the problem, Mirae Industry recommends installation of a vacuum floating prevention cover inside the water meter box. This video shows the buoyancy that occurs when rainwater is introduced into a general water meter box made by other companies.
